First prescription

Goal and time target​

Print the first finalized prescription in under 90 seconds after the visit workspace opens.

You need​

  • Role: Practitioner or Doctor with encounter.write and rx.write.
  • Route: My Dashboard (/app/doctor-dashboard) or visit workspace /app/patients/:patientId/encounters/:encounterId.
  • Medical council registration number saved in profile.

Steps​

  1. Open My Dashboard and click Start visit for the patient.
  2. In the visit workspace, open Prescription.
  3. Search Search medicine (generic or brand), or choose Favourites / sets and click Apply set.
  4. Check Dose, Frequency, Timing, Days, Advice and Follow-up date.
  5. Click Save draft and review Warnings.
  6. Tick I have reviewed this warning for each warning and click Finalize.
  7. Click Print. Use Share on WhatsApp only after confirming the patient number.

Done when...​

The prescription status is Final, print opens, and the prescription includes doctor name, registration number and medicines.

Tips​

  • Create favourites for common fever, pain or follow-up sets.
  • Generic names and NMC telemedicine checks are enforced during finalization.
  • A finalized prescription cannot be edited; write a new one if needed.

If something goes wrong​

If finalization is blocked, click Open profile and add your medical council registration number.
